"The Rocket" at Rainhill
A public house with a name that recognises the significance of Rainhill in the history of railways. It was in this little town in 1829 that Stephenson's "The Rocket" steam train was first seen by the public during The Rainhill Trials.

Holt Farm
Holt Farm on Warrington Road, now almost surrounded by residential development. The tiny hamlet of Holt has been swallowed up by its larger neighbours Prescot and Rainhill. Now that the Post Office, bowling green, baths, Congregational Church and Sunday School are gone, just the Holt Hotel and a few cottages remind us that there once was a rural settlement here.
