Tall Ships 2008 - Canning Dock
The figurehead of 'Asgard II' the Dublin based sail training ship. This traditional ship carries a carving of "Granuaile", the famous 16th century Mayo "Pirate" Queen. More information about all the ships in the 2008 race is available at: http://www.tallshipsliverpool.co.uk/ Sadly 'Asgard II' was lost in the Bay of Biscay on September 11th, 2008. All hands were saved.

Tall ship Zebu, Canning Dock Liverpool
The positions are an approximation as this was taken over 4 years earlier. Zebu was built in Sweden in 1938 and operated as a trading vessel until the late 1960s. Latterly based in Liverpool she was declared a wreck in May 2021 after running aground near Holyhead en route to Bristol. See - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zebu_(ship)

Canning Dock and The Pumphouse
Now a public house, the Pumphouse is a former Hydraulic Engine house, accumulator tower and chimney, dating from the 1870s. It is a Grade II listed building (List entry Number: 1280849 https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1280849 Historic England).

Tall ship and pumphouse
The 'Zebu' was built in Sweden in 1938. Fifty years later found a home with the Mersey Heritage Trust. In September 2015 she sank at her moorings, but was raised and is currently being used as a static display and pirate-themed attraction.
