Superlambanana
This rather curious 17 foot tall sculpture stands outside the Liverpool John Moores University Library. It was designed by Japanese artist Taro Chiezo and there appear to be two theories as to what it represents: either a comment on the dangers of genetic engineering, or the traffic of imported bananas and exported lambs that once passed through the port of Liverpool. In any case it seems to have become a symbol of the city rivalling the Liver Birds.

Former College of Commerce, Tithebarn Street, Liverpool
Built 1928-31 by the City Surveyor, Albert Jenkins, in brick and Portland stone. A decent Classical job. It is crowned by an impressive sculpture of Neptune (
Image]). The neighbouring building is an extension of 1953 by Ronald Bradbury. The frills have gone, groups of windows divided by stone fins.
It is now part of Liverpool John Moores University.
