The Scotch Piper Inn
The oldest inn in Lancashire. Built around an oak tree in the 14 century and known as the Royal Oak. According to legend an injured Scotch Piper from the 1745 Rebellion took refuge at the inn, and later married the inn-keeper's daughter. The inn was re-named in his honour.

Window detail from St Catherine's Chapel, Lydiate
Originally a private chapel for a wealthy local landholder and his family, this now derelict building is surrounded by daffodils and grass. The stone is multi-coloured and still shows where the original wooden beams and supports would have sat.
