Woolton: The Roman Catholic Archbishop's House
Old large scale Ordnance Survey maps show this house as Beechwood, and it was only in the edition of 1936 that it was shown as the Archbishop's House. By 1952 it had a private Roman Catholic Chapel in its grounds. The house is now in Acrefield Park, with the current housing estate built in the house's grounds.
It is a Grade II Listed Building.

Impressive half-timbered lodge guarding the west end of what was originally a private road. Dated 1859. Grade II listed.

Eleanor Rigby headstone at St Peter's Church, Church Road, Woolton
Among the gravestones at St Peter's Church, Woolton stands a headstone above a plot in which a certain 'Eleanor Rigby' was buried. Although Paul McCartney denies this has any link with the song, can it be just a coincidence that it was at a Garden Fête in a field behind this church that Paul McCartney first saw a certain John Lennon performing with his group 'The Quarry Men' on 6 July 1957?

St Peter's Church Hall
St Peter's Church Hall is where John Lennon and Paul McCartney first met on the 6th July 1957. Whilst waiting to play at the church dance that night, John Lennon and the other members of the Quarrymen were introduced to the young Paul McCartney by a mutual friend.
