Glacial Boulder, Coronation Park, Crosby
During local housing construction in 1898, this huge gypsum boulder was found 20ft below the surface embedded in boulder clay. Weighing an estimated 18 tons, it is thought to have been brought by glacier from the Lake District and now takes pride of place in Coronation Park, Crosby

Coronation Park and the Boulder Stone, Great Crosby
On the information board the large lump of gypsum is said to have been excavated from a depth of 6m in the clay pit of the Crosby brick works Image It states that it may be an 'erratic', possibly from the Lake District. This may indeed be true but I personally do not know of any gypsum outcrops in the Lake District from which this could have been plucked by an ice sheet. The closest candidate I can think of is in the Eden Valley Image
