Hope Street, Liverpool
Looking down from the cathedral tower to Hope Street which can be seen running north past the block-like Philharmonic Hall to the Roman Catholic Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral. Hope Street was named after a city merchant who occupied a house where the Philharmonic Hall now stands.

Liverpool Philharmonic Hall
The Philharmonic Hall on Hope Street was opened in June 1939, replacing an earlier building that had been destroyed by fire. It is the home of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, but is also used for a wide variety of other concerts, ranging from rock to classical, as well as films and comedy acts.

Philharmonic Hall, Hope Street, Liverpool
By Herbert J. Rowse, 1936-39, possessing the curves typical of its age. Pevsner cites the influence of the Dutch architect, W.M. Dudok. Grade II* listed.
It remains a concert venue and home of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.
