Geoffrey Hughes Memorial Ground
The facilities in Mather Avenue were opened in 1922, as a memorial for Geoffrey Hughes who died during the Great War, for the provision of student sports facilities to the University of Liverpool, it is more commonly known as "Wyncote". There are football, rugby, lacrosse and hockey pitches and two floodlit artificial pitches as well as a disused running track. The old pavilion can be seen on the left and in the distance the tower of Allerton "All Hallows" church.
