Old building in Parr Street, Liverpool L1
Looking along Parr Street in the direction of Slater Street. The building on the left is recorded on the 1955 O.S. map as a 'Textile Works'. It has some writing along the wall but I have been unable to decipher it. The building at the end of the street was recorded as 'The Cumberland Arms'.

48-54 Seel Street, Liverpool
A short Georgian terrace clearly previously in a parlous state, and in various stages of renovation. Of the four late-C18th houses beyond the scaffolding, only one has real windows - the nearer two have painted ones (lurking behind each of which is a red bear, http://flic.kr/p/9MBKQH ) and the furthest has none at all. Grade II listed. The scaffolding is actually for nos. 30-32 Slater Street, of whose original fabric startlingly little appeared to remain. I believe it was being converted into a bar. Given Liverpool's chequered history in preserving its built heritage, it's encouraging to see decent chunks of it being brought back to life.

Parr Street, Liverpool L1
Looking along Parr Street towards Wolstenholme Square with the famous 'nation' nightclub on the right. Although not clear in this photo the black-painted wall on the right is curved suggesting a once grand Georgian building. By 1955 it is recorded as a ruin on the O.S. map, but earlier maps show that there was once one of Liverpool's notorious 'courts' (very poor quality housing) in an alley to the right - also named Blakley Place up to 1864. This website has a description of court living: http://www.discover-liverpool.com/24/section.aspx/3

No doubt former Victorian warehouse, now a hotel belonging to the base2stay chain.

'nation' nightclub in Parr Street/Wolstenholme Square
This old wartime Nissen hut houses one of the most famous Liverpool nightclubs, 'nation', which in turn hosts 'Cream' club nights. Between 1891 and 1928 the O.S. maps record this plot as a Colour and Paint works, but after the war this building isn't named, and nearby buildings are 'Warehouses'.

Nightclub/Bar/Restaurant For Sale or To Let
Behind this scaffolding in Slater Street there seems to be the shell of one of Liverpool's grand old buildings. A sign on the front states "Nightclub/Bar/Restaurant For Sale or To Let". It seems that it might be a while before the new venture opens but I hope the project is a success.
