46520 at Liverpool Central Station ? 1967 ? 3
By this time passenger services into the station were limited to the local diesel service to Gateacre, and most of the tracks had been lifted. This was the occasion of a special enthusiasts' excursion covering lines in the Liverpool area. 46520 is running round the train and is seen at the east end of the station. In the background is the turntable area which in the days of regular steam operation allowed locomotives to be turned without having to travel to Brunswick locomotive shed. The locomotive is one of the lightweight 2-6-0s built to a London Midland and Scottish Railway design, but actually built by British Railways, in 1953. It is one of a small number of the type to have been painted in passenger green livery. It would be withdrawn before the end of the year.

75-79 Bold Street, Liverpool
A good case of where lifting one's eyes from the shopfronts pays dividends. A distinguished Greek Revival facade articulated by giant Ionic columns and three pediments. Probably by Joseph Franklin, c1833. Grade II listed. The shops underneath are a jeweller, Chinese restaurant and "Far East fusion" restaurant.
