Hanover House, Hanover Street, Liverpool
Built as the Crane Building, 1913-15, by Walter Aubrey Thomas. It is, as Pevsner remarks, very striking, due to its tapered form (contrary to appearances it is all there, it hasn't been cut in half or anything) and the very lofty red-brick upper section, its height accentuated by giant pilasters/piers. All very American. Grade II listed.
Originally a shop selling musical instruments, it now houses a bar and restaurant at ground floor, and serviced offices above.

Clayton Square shopping centre
The glass roof of the Clayton Square shopping centre and the first floor coffee shop. The original Clayton Square was laid out between 1745-50, named after William Clayton, Mayor of Liverpool in 1689 also representing the town in eight parliaments between 1698-1714. The grand houses eventually became retail establishments and even a theatre but over the passage of time the quality of the shops deteriorated and the square became a bit of an eyesore. In 1986, after a Public Inquiry following numerous calls for the old square to be restored, the entire area was demolished to make way for the present retail development.

School Lane, Liverpool
At the edge of the pedestrianised shopping precinct west of Liverpool Central station. The building with the rather striking second-floor appendage belongs to Signature Works, a company letting flexible office spaces to small businesses.

Premier Buildings, Church Street, Liverpool
Looking like the Flatiron Building's younger cousin. By Gerald de Courcy Fraser, 1912-14.
Lloyds TSB were there at the time of the photo.
The helter skelter served as a draw to shoppers, put there I believe by CityCentral Bid, an umbrella organisation representing Liverpool businesses.
