What Pub website says: "A 'local in the heart of the city', this small, cosy pub won the local CAMRA Branch's Best Community Pub Award in 2012, and Kitty McNicholas, who has worked there for 24 years, won their Bar Person of the Year Award in 2014. The pub is very handy for all public transport, and attracts people from all over the city, and visitors as well, with lively conversation the theme of every day. Tastefully refurbished in late 2012, it retains its traditional atmosphere, and photographs and newspaper cuttings on the walls lend insights into the pub's history and local characters. Watch out for the sloping floor in the front bar area! In the small back room, there is a wall length mural, aptly depicting the world globe, and a brass plaque commemorating the inaugural meeting of CAMRA Merseyside that was held there over 40 years ago, in 1974."
