Balfarg henge
In an unlikely location in a housing estate in the new town of Glenrothes (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glenrothes ) we see a restored wood and stone henge, the extent of which discovered during excavations in 1977. It is circle No. 147 in Burl's guide, which he describes as a "megalithic imperative" to visit.

Balfarg mortuary enclosure
This is a partially reconstructed Neolithic timber mortuary enclosure. The site was discovered in the early 1980s. Balfarg is rich in Neolithic archeology much of which has not been treated with due respect during the construction of roads and housing in the area in the last quarter of the 20th century. However, the juxtaposition of old and new is interesting for the residents. In its original state bodies would have been placed on such a platform for excarnation.
