Partially restored ruin
The 15th century tower house known as Balgonie Castle had fallen into a completely ruinous state until, in the late 1970s, restoration work began on the tower. It is now a popular and picturesque venue for weddings, complete with its own candle-lit chapel which may have been used by Mary Queen of Scots when she visited Balgonie in 1565.

Balgonie Castle
Home to the Laird of Balgonie, Raymond Morris and his family. It's been under restoration since 1985 but is a painfully slow process due to the sheer cost and Historic Scotland's bureaucracy. A stunning building however.
