Ornamental underpass
Several pedestrian underpasses in Glenrothes have been decorated with artworks. This one, made in 1970 by David Harding, under Western Avenue is one of the most impressive. The intricate design is based on Glenrothes' mining, electronic and paper industries. Look carefully and you can see the names of some of the people who helped to create this public art work.

Western Avenue underpass
Several pedestrian underpasses in Glenrothes have been decorated with artworks. This is the south face of one under Western Avenue. It was made in 1970 by David Harding and is one of the most impressive. The intricate design is based on Glenrothes' mining, electronic and paper industries. Interesting to note too, that the graffiti 'artists' of Glenrothes seem to be restricting their spray paint activity to the smooth walls inside the pedestrian underpass, leaving the artwork alone. Long may that continue.
