Cowdenbeath High Street at Cowdenbeath New Station
View NNW, Station being on right: ex-NBR Dunfermline - Thornton Junction line, formerly junction of line to Kinross and Perth (closed 4/1/70, which used to be the main line Edinburgh - Perth. The service now runs Edinburgh - Dunfermline - Cowdenbeath - Markinch, Thornton Junction station being substituted by the new station at Glenrothes (for Thornton) opened 11/5/92.

Scotrail Class 158 train number 158739 has just left Platform 2 where a service from Edinburgh Waverley terminated. It has crossed to the other track by means of a set of points which can be seen just beyond the far end of the train and is now approaching Platform 1.
