Blairadam Forest
Snow covered track to Blairadam Forest off B914. Most of this forest was felled during World War One. The Forestry Commission replanted the forest primarily with conifers such as Sitka http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sitka_Spruce and Norway Spruce http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norway_Spruce.

Thornton Wood
Much of the wood has been felled for open cast coal mining. This block on the skyline is just part of the forestry cycle. It is strange seeing cars go by on the B914 from the M90 after so many years of dense forestry.

Beeches, Thornton Wood
Much of Thornton Wood is a Sitka monoculture, and much of that has been eaten by an open cast coal mine - familiar to any who travel the M90. This bit is on the skyline, by the Saline road and is safe from the diggers.
