West Burntisland and The Binn
The red patch on the shore line is the "red mud" left from the extraction of alumina from bauxite. The "aluminium works" as it was known was built in 1917 and closed in 2002. The site of the factory, the lighter patch to the right has been cleared and a large housing development is being built. The Binn in the background is a volcanic plug.
