This car dealership near the railway station in Kirkcaldy has a clever way of advertising a manufacturer's scrappage scheme for buying a new car.

This is the main entrance/South Platform to Kirkcaldy Railway Station on Station Road (adjacent to the museum and art gallery and Kirkcaldy Central Library building donated by philanthorpist John Nairn between 1925 and 1928). This impressive building dates from 1991, after a fire destroyed the 1964 one. The station has been on site since 10th June 1847, on a branch line serving the Edinburgh and Northern Railway was put in place, terminating at the then county town of Fife, Cupar. The platforms were re-built in 1964, possibly under the controversial town centre redevelopment project.

These two charging points for electric vehicles can be found in the car park of the north-bound platform of Kirkcaldy railway station.

The inscription on the plaque reads, somewhat poetically, as follows: "To honour the memory of those who went from The Lothians and Fife to serve in the war in Spain, 1936 - 1939." "Not to a fanfare of trumpets Nor even the skirl o' the pipes Not for the off'r of a shilling Nor to see their names up in lights Their call was a cry of anguish From the hearts of the people of Spain Some paid with their lives it is true Their sacrifice was not in vain" (The International Brigade Association) Very well put.

This is the opposite side of the railway station, leading out onto the north platform for trains going to Dundee, Perth, Aberdeen, Inverness and beyond. This is situated on Whyte Melville Road/Forth Avenue off Oriel Road roundabout, in Kirkcaldy town centre. This building dates from 1964, surviving a fire that destroyed the main entrance. A car park, exists to the far left of the picture including a new extension with access just at Bennochy Bridge. The new extension is jam-packed with cars being left, for all of Kirkcaldy's commuters to go to work in Edinburgh.

Loco hauled services in Fife as seen in 1985 when the majority were hauled by class 47 locos. These services were some of the last to use "steam heat" rather than electric train heating. In simple terms the locos had a boiler which produced steam to heat the coaching stock. A driver's assistant was required to look after the boiler which, if not attended to correctly, would mean the passengers would freeze in winter or cook in summer! Normally heat was provided in the winter months which normally meant by the May timetable change it was deemed summer even if it was still cold!
