Fife Transportation Department Dept
Main store for Central Fife, Roads Dept. They keep all the grit bins, signposts etc here. Oooh, look. They've even got one in the middle of the car park. It says on one finger "A910" on another "Kirkcaldy" on another "Chapel" and on the last one it says "Lochgelly, Kinglassie and Leslie" with a variety of mileages beside them.

A track which makes a good path from Kirkcaldy to Thornton runs beside a pipeline which I have come across before, near Cardenden. There are a lot of wetlands here, but the path is good.

Thornton locomotive shed, 1965
Thornton shed had code 62A, indicating that it was the major shed for the area, able to carry out major repairs. In the foreground is 61148, one of Thompson's B1 class 4-6-0 locomotives for the LNER. There is now no trace of the extensive railway installations at this location.
