Sitting proud on top of Crail's Mercat Cross this Unicorn has surveyed the Marketgate since 1887. The lion and the unicorn Were fighting for the crown; The lion beat the unicorn All round about the town. Can't win them all I suppose.

Mercat Cross, Crail
Restored and moved here in 1887 I assume it once had more central position in the Marketgate but I can find no information about its original location. The shaft is thought to be much older and dates from around the 1600s whilst by implication the Unicorn dates from the restoration in 1887.
