Waid Academy, Anstruther
The Waid was built with funds provided by Lieutenant Andrew Waid who died in 1804 leaving an endowment for a school for boys interested in joining the Navy. The school was built in 1886 and is still the secondary school for the area taking in all pupils from the local schools.

Blue plaque for the birthplace of Dr. Thomas Chalmers
Set into a wall on Old Post office Close, this plaque reads: Dr Thomas Chalmers 1780 - 1847 First Moderator of the Free Church of Scotland was born in the house at the end of the close (Anstruther Improvements Association).
