4 - 5 Castle Street, Anstruther Easter
Although of a similar original date (late 17th or early 18th century) to the other houses on Castle Street, nos 4 & 5 have not been as well treated over the years, particularly during renovation work in the mid 1950s, and as a result have a Category C listing https://britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/200380849-4-castle-street-pantiles-anstruther-easter-east-neuk-and-landward-ward#.W4951ehKhPY whereas most of the others have Cat B status. The modern garage on the ground floor, whilst undoubtedly very useful, has pretty much obliterated the character of number 5 and is somewhat out of tune with the rest of the buildings in the row.
