Tolbooth, Pittenweem
The Tolbooth was as far as I can tell built in 1588. The upper extension, the part with the clock on it, was added in the following 100 years. Thought to be built on the site of the old Abbey which moved here from May Island when the Abbey on May became untenable due raids from the Scandinavians. As a final note it is a Tolbooth and not a Tollbooth.

Unusual gravestone
Just inside the entrance to the graveyard beside Pittenweem Parish Church. The upright stone reads: SACRED TO THE MEMORY OF ROBt WATSON, SHIP MASTER PITTENWEEM WHO DIED THE 26TH MAY 1801, AGED 41 YEARS. JOHN WATSON HIS SON WHO DIED 26TH JULY 1810, AGED 21 YEARS. WILLIAM WATSON ALSO HIS SON WHO DIED 20TH OCTOBER 1834, AGED 38 YEARS. ANNIE WATSON BAINS HIS DAUGHTER WHO DIED THE 12TH DECr 1834 AGED 41 YEARS ALSO ANNIE BAINS DAUGHTER OF ANNIE WATSON BAINS WHO DIED 21ST JULY 1851 AGED 18 YEARS ------ WATSON SPOUSE OF ROBt WATSON --------- 10 SEPT 1858, AGED 92 YEARS. It is not clear if the figure on the flat stone is related to the above or not. It appears to be earlier in date. The churchyard walls and gravestones are Category B listed http://portal.historicenvironment.scot/designation/LB39870.

Market Cross, Pittenweem
The remains of the Category B listed cross are against the wall of the tower of Pittenweem Parish Church. The shaft is 17th century in date.
