Cheerful police at Olympics cycling time trial
These are Surrey police, on duty among the spectators on Hampton Court Way. There was light rain just before the start of the women's time trial, but the rain had stopped before the first competitor came by.

River Ember from Hampton Court Way
The River Ember is actually a channel of the River Mole which splits in two to then merge at this point, just upriver from the bridge carrying Hampton Court Way. The Mole joins the Ember to the right just out of the picture - see http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/3864922 The joined rivers then flow for another 400 metres before joining the River Thames at the eastern end of East Molesey, opposite Hampton Court Palace. This last part is called the Ember rather than the far longer River Mole.

Emma Pooley in women's time trial, 2012 Olympics
Emma Pooley of Team GB being cheered on by an enthusiastic flag-waving crowd on Hampton Court Way. The time trial started from Hampton Court, came over the Thames bridge, then onto this road, so we are near the start.
