Two interesting shops, East Molesey
These appeared on maps in the 1890s, and never had any special function mapped, so presumably were built as shops. The one on the right is inscribed 'Shakespeare House' with a bust of the man between books on the pediment. It last use was by the defunct wine vendor 'Threshers', but who were its first occupants? The shop on the left, currently a chiropodists, has a stone facade decorated here and there with patterned tiles. Most of these were evidently in a frieze below the upper windows, but all but five have dropped off.
