Kent's the Chemists, East Molesey: shop front with mosaics
This shop, on the corner of Walton and Spencer Roads, is a remarkable survival - we have to thank generations of pharmacists for having left it unaltered. While the spelling 'Chymist' might suggest a date in the 1700's, an inscription on the glazing says 'Established 1869'. The inscriptions above and below the windows are mosaics - the jaunty style of the lettering looks to me as if it dates from the 1890's, or perhaps Edwardian times. For a more general view of this shop on its street corner, see Image

Kent's the Chemists, East Molesey
On the corner of Walton Road and Spencer Road. The proprietors are very kindly, caring pharmacists, greatly appreciated by the local community - and I have to thank them for having looked after my mother and stepfather in their old age. The shop itself is an almost miraculous survival, complete with mosaics and curved glass panels. A panel on the wall and an inscription on the glazing both say 'Established 1869'. However, that would suggest that the present building is somewhat later, and another panel (high up) seems to read 'A.D. 1894'. The lettering of the mosaics is distinctly jaunty - and the 1890's would seem a likely date. For a closer view of the shop window and mosaics, see http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/2777866
