Old Malden war memorial
This memorial in the grounds of Image was originally for the Great (First World) War but an additional plaque remembers "1939-1945 war and all wars since". Sadly, it was vandalised in 2011.

Malden Manor, Old Malden
Ian Nairn - writing in the Surrey volume of 'The Buildings of England' in 1962 - put it like this: 'CHURCH ROAD is an oasis in this outer suburbia. Close to the church the MANOR HOUSE, c.1700 and earlier, of red brick, and to the NE of the church the MANOR FARM'. Without those words from Nairn, I would never have suspected that this little 'oasis' existed. The wider area is mostly between-the-wars residential development of a pretty anonymous kind - with more recent development close to the church. Church and manor still feel secluded, half-hidden. Access is along a gravel track, and I failed to spot the opening when I first drove by. The area immediately around the church and manor is woodland, and I'm not sure whether Manor Farm still exists (though there's still a gate with that name on it). Weather-boarded cottages mentioned by Nairn in 1962 have disappeared. The manor is the property of Merton College, Oxford - see Stephen Craven's contribution: Image
