Prince's Gate barriers
Gate and vehicular barrier at the Prince's Gate entrance to Prince's Coverts. On the left is a wicket gate for pedestrian and equestrian use, which should be kept locked to restrict access to those with a permit. In the centre is a vehicular barrier, which at the time of this photograph was in regular use by contractors' vehicles for logging work. Notices explain that the Coverts are private (i.e. owned by the monarch) but that access is permitted on application for a permit and key. For a view of the small car park here, see Image The Crown Estate does not encourage visitors from further afield (and does not issue permits to those who do not live locally), so the car park is often empty.
