Cottage in the woods
A little tile-hung cottage at the north-east corner of Heath Plantation, by the southern boundary of Headley Heath. The situation is fairly remote (by Surrey standards) so I'd imagine the building is (or was) an estate cottage. Behind the camera the track (private road, public bridleway) leads to Boxhill Road, which runs parallel to the crest of the North Downs scarp.

Muddy bridleway through woodland, Headley Heath
Very muddy in mid-March, so getting through on foot was no joke. I should add that there aren't many tracks through these woods that aren't churned up by horses.

Dead bracken, Headley Heath
In the mainly wooded area of the National Trust heath. The bracken is of course not really dead, the perennial fern will shoot green again in the spring.
