Hogsmill River at Hogsmill Local Nature Reserve
The Hogsmill River is a chalk stream since most of its water comes from the dip-slope springs at Ewell. The Hogsmill River has for long filled an important role in the history of Ewell, both as a source of power for several mills, including the gunpowder mill complexes, and as an inspiring landscape for famous artists. Most famous painting of the latter is 'Ophelia' by John Everett Millais. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ophelia_(painting) for more information. This view is near Ewell Court Park. The London LOOP follows the left hand bank here on its way to Kingston Bridge.
