The Camphill Road bridge has an old red brick arch which is still visible. The laying of more railway lines has necessitated widening the bridge.

See Image Above Lock No 2 were more abandoned boats. As an act of spite, some of the boats had been deliberately vandalised before being abandoned by their owners, with the canal volunteers being left to clear up the debris.

Houseboats at Woodham on the Basingstoke Canal
When the Basingstoke Canal was unusable for navigation, a large number of houseboats established themselves in the lower reaches of the canal around Woodham. These were the permanent homes of their owners. When restoration of the canal got underway, it was necessary to remove these boats, which obviously had to be done with sensitivity. Sadly, in the end, a number of the boats were burned or otherwise vandalised.
