The Brooklands motor circuit (or race track) was the brainchild of Hugh F. Locke King, and was the first purpose-built banked motor race circuit in the world

Members' Bridge at Brooklands motor circuit
The purpose of this bridge was to give vehicular access to Members' Hill on the left, where there was a restaurant and grandstand, overlooking the Members' Banking (as this banked section of the track was known).
