Old Milestone
Carved stone post in garden, in parish of ESHER (ELMBRIDGE District), was said to be on Claremont Lane East on 1935 map, now in the front garden of "Milestone" in Broom Close (a private road). Surrey limestone pillar, erected by the Surrey & Sussex turnpike trust in the 18th century.
Inscription reads:- : XV / Miles / III Quarters / from / Westmins / ter Bridge / 1768 : : XVII Miles / From the / Standard / in / Cornhill / London / 1747 :

Green Line Through Esher
RMC4 - a Routemaster coach - passes the Albert Arms on Esher High Street (A307) on the last run back to London from Cobham as part of the Green Line 80th anniversary run. She is in convoy with RCL2260 from which this photo was taken. In the distance an RT can be seen, also on route to London.

Esher, Fountain on The Green
The centre of Esher, a very opulent commuter village in the Surrey stockbroker belt. Queen Victoria gave this fountain to Esher in 1877. She may have visited The Bear (background) afterwards!
