The Scotland versus England rugby match would take place later that day at Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh, hence the inflatable rugby posts promoting the match outside Vic’s and The Vine. England beat Scotland 13-6.

Corner tea room on a curious road! (St Quivox is not someone familiar to most churchgoers but local sources in Ayrshire indicate that the name probably derives from a holy woman extant in the reign of Malcolm ll of Scotland and is transliterated from "Santa Kennocha Virgo in Coila". It seems that a variety of other forms occur elsewhere, e.g. St Kevock and St Evox.)
