More work at Queen Margaret Academy
Since the completion of the new building in 2019, work is well under way on demolishing the old school. The first block had gone when this shot was taken at the beginning of January 2021. The old complex is shown at Image

Work progresses at Queen Margaret Academy
The new school was built beside the old one. One of the original blocks had gone by the end of 2020.

The old Queen Margaret Academy has gone
The £25 million new Queen Margaret Academy opened in the autumn of 2019 while work continued to demolish the old building on the same site. Image shows the previous building, by then looking quite old-fashioned, and Image recorded its partial demolition in 2021. Work continues on the rest of the site.

Queen Margaret Academy
Queen Margaret Academy was built on this site in 1976 as South Ayrshire's Roman Catholic secondary school, after relocating from the building in Mainholm Road. As part of the development of "Scotland's Schools For The Future", work is well under way on a replacement building on the adjacent site. We can only hope that the life span of the new building will extend beyond 42 years.
