Cromwell Road, Ayr
This street name comes from the builder of the citadel which formerly occupied this site and which has determined the current street layout. Oliver Cromwell's army built the citadel at Ayr in 1652-53. The building on the right-hand side also takes his name. The old walls at the end of the road are part of the original construction.
