The Three Sisters Memorial Cairn
This records the construction of the three meridian pillars on Green Hill known as The Three Sisters.
Sir Thomas Makdougall Brisbane built The Three Sisters in 1808 as meridian sighting posts.
From a smaller meridian pillar near his observatory in Brisbane Glen, he aligned his telescope with the Three Sisters and was able to establish due north, even though the north star wasn’t visible.
