Moorburn House - Largs, North Ayrshire
The original Moorburn House was built by Dr Hugh Morris when he returned to Largs from the West Indies. On his death in 1810 his nephew Major Robert Morris took up residence.
In 1870 the house was bought by Robert Aitken, who became the first provost of Largs in 1876.
He demolished the house and built the present Moorburn House in 1876.
The council bought the building in 1936 for £7,500 and used it as offices for more than 70 years. Officials left the building in 2008 and it was put up for sale at a knockdown price of £325,000, creating much controversy in the town.
It was sold to an Aberdeen oil tycoon in 2009, who converted into a private residence.
