Plaque on The Village Inn, Fairlie
On Bay Street. See also Image & Image The plaque reads as follows... "The famous boatyard of William Fife and Son was situated along the shoreline across from this inn from the early years of the 19th Century until 1939. Three generations of William Fifes designed many fine yachts which were built and launched by the craftsmen of Fairlie to sail and race with great distinction worldwide. In 1873, five Clyde yachtsmen met within this historic Village Inn and founded the Mudhook Yacht Club".
