Nanette's
Nanette's children's clothing shop is a long-established business in Girvan which has survived the challenges of the credit crunch, supermarket competition and internet shopping. As this photo shows, it's a shop that interests women rather than men.

Always look on the bright side
While most shops display notices saying that they are closed due to the Coronavirus restrictions, Girvan's Direct Outdoors shop says that they will re-open as soon as possible.

Shop To Let
The Poundsworth chain opened a store in Girvan using the former Woolworth's premises but it did not survive the current difficult economic circumstances, even when selling all goods at half price. Already a long-term unemployment black spot, the credit crunch hastened the demise of many Girvan businesses.
