Shop To Let
The Poundsworth chain opened a store in Girvan using the former Woolworth's premises but it did not survive the current difficult economic circumstances, even when selling all goods at half price. Already a long-term unemployment black spot, the credit crunch hastened the demise of many Girvan businesses.

Dalrymple Street, Girvan
Dalrymple Street is the main shopping area for Girvan though, like many other small towns, it has suffered from the combined effects of the credit crunch, supermarket competition and the growing popularity of internet shopping. However, even with so many empty properties, Girvan has retained a good number of independent shops and businesses. This view looks northwards towards the saltire flying on the McKechnie Institute.
