Bitumen refinery revisited
A photo taken 05/01/2010 from roughly the same position as in Albert Bridge's Bitumen Refinery photo http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1082930 . The refinery is no longer extant and the bridge from which the original picture was taken has been removed. the gate entrance seen in original pic can be seen just right of centre.

Bitumen refinery, Ardrossan
The Shell bitumen refinery (closed, I think, in 1988 and originally a WW1 aviation gasoline refinery) at Ardrossan harbour. Bitumen was despatched by rail to Culloden. See also Image and Image
