Ne'er Cast A Clout
The old Scottish saying "Ne'er cast a clout till May's oot" refers to the blossom of the Hawthorn, also called May blossom in Scotland. When the Hawthorn is in flower, it's safe to put away your winter clothes. The Hawthorn (Crataegus monogyna) is a member of the Rose family.

Progress on the Minishant roundabout
The contractors have managed to open Maybole By-Pass while still working on this roundabout. Work continues on the connection with the old A77, now designated the B77. Image and Image show what the site looked like at an early stage of the works in February 2019.

Advance Work For The Maybole By-Pass Near Minishant
Viewed from the next square, the long-promised and long-awaited Maybole by-pass will start here with a new roundabout on the A77. The route is also dealing with the problematic Smithston Railway Bridge.
