Saracen Ltd, Maybole, 1975
In 1968, Maybole Town Council encouraged the introduction of textile manufacturing by supporting the development of a new factory. Jersey-Kapwood Ltd of Nottingham set up their ultra-modern premises on the site of the old railway goods station at Redbrae. In 1971 the company amalgamated with Saracen Ltd of Northern Ireland. When this photo was taken in 1975, Saracen was a big local employer for Maybole.
