Auchinleck railway station
These old metal bridges are slowly disappearing from Scotland's platforms. This is because, in stations that have platforms without ramp access and car parking spaces, the bridges are being replaced by ones that incorporate lifts, for obvious reasons. While it would be a bit much to expect the new bridges to reflect the charm of the old ones, a bit more of an effort could have been made I feel. They are purely functional, dull (borderline ugly, in fact) and you can't see over their parapets either. As Auchinleck does have ramp access from its lesser-served Southern platform (albeit that it is so long you can't actually see where it ends up) there is the possibility that a couple of disabled parking spaces could be created at its faraway end, removing the need for lifts and thereby saving the nice purple bridge. There are a different man and woman on the pre-recorded platform tannoy announcements here from those we get in the Central Belt. I don't mind saying this put me slightly on edge - I had always thought it was one ScotRail....
