Rivergate Shopping Centre, Irvine, North Ayrshire
Ayrshire’s largest shopping centre was opened in October 1975, construction having started in 1973.
Originally, an integrated bus station, cinema and hotel were to be included within the centre, but these plans did not come to fruition. In 1980, plans to enlarge the centre and attach it to Irvine Railway Station also failed to materialise.
