Glasgow train at Barassie
A train to Glasgow from Ayr departing from Brassie, formed with Siemens Desiro Unit no. 380010 at the rear. As the lighting gives unusual prominence to the 25 KV overhead electrification equipment, it is worth mentioning that electrification to Ayr was completed in 1986, but the train is more recent and was built in 2010.

Barassie railway station, Ayrshire
Opened in 1840 by the Glasgow, Paisley, Kilmarnock & Ayr Railway, later part of the Glasgow & South Western Railway empire. View south towards Troon and Ayr. To the left used to be a second pair of platforms on the line from Kilmarnock. The line was still there when this image was taken but the platforms were gone.

Barassie Junction
Here the Glasgow, Paisley, Kilmarnock and Ayr Railway crossed the Kilmarnock and Troon Railway, both becoming parts of the Glasgow and Southwestern Railway. The line from here to Kilmarnock is still open and is now single track, and the double track is the busy, electrified Ayr - Glasgow route. View from the footbridge at Barassie Station, the bridge carries Kilmarnock Road over the railways.
