Tullochard Black House, Rudha, Plockton
First mention of Plockton has been traced back to 1787 but before the 19th century there are no records of many people having lived here. It is probable that a small crofting community of three or four families did exist. Part of Tullochard this Category B Listed traditional West Highland house is 19th century and the last intact survival in Plockton. Converted from a store to a dwelling about 1998 it is shown here before conversion and you will note how here the chimney projects above roof level.

Thatched cottage
This 19th century traditional West Highlands thatched cottage has been restored several times. Older photographs show a taller chimney and rather less tidy thatch. Such cottages were once a common sight in the area, though very few survive today.
