Across south Portree Bay to The quietness of Heatherfield. The sea birds were feeding on a flow tide which added to the scene.

Temperature inversion over Loch Portree
Beyond the houses of Heatherfield, low cloud rolls across Portree Bay and Camas Ban. This was one of many similar patches on this warm afternoon, caused by a flow of very cold water in the Sound of Raasay cooling the air immediately above it.

Heatherfield telephone box
Equipment was still in place within the box but the door could not be opened, and brambles were growing not only around the kiosk but were established inside. For the surrounding location as photographed by Dave Fergusson in 2009 see Image Curiously the small cluster of dwellings that is Heatherfield is called in Gaelic An Torran Uaine ("The green hillock").

The surrounding vegetation has been cut back a bit since Tiger visited the location in 2016 - see Image There is a healthy growth of young brambles inside the box though.
